Dr. Sue Smrekar is a planetary geophysicist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Caltech. She is currently the PI for JPL's VERITAS mission to Venus, which seeks to answer how Earth became and remained habitable while its twin, Venus, became a sulfurous hell. Her work has received numerous awards, including from NASA, the American Geophysical Union, and a team Emmy. She has appeared on Nova, BBC’s Horizon, and NPR. She helped lead multiple Mars missions, most recently as the deputy PI on InSight.
