Ukrainian Ihor Poshyvailo is the General-Director of the National Memorial to the Heavenly Hundred Heroes and the Museum of the Revolution of Dignity (Maidan Museum), a cultural activist, ethnologist, museologist, and arts curator.
With the onset of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2022, Ihor took on the coordination of the Heritage Emergency Response Initiative (HERI) and became a member of the National Council for Reconstruction of Ukraine after the war's end.
Throughout the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Ihor has provided on-the-ground support to cultural institutions and thousands of individuals. He also conducts fieldwork to document damage to cultural heritage, collecting objects and oral histories. Simultaneously with the documentation work, he seeks to enhance capacity through close collaborations with the Smithsonian Institution, ALIPH Foundation, CER, ICCROM, UNESCO, and various other international partners.
With a PhD in History, Ihor is also a former president of the Museum Council at the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine and vice-president of ICOM-DRMC, as well as a corresponding member of the Archaeological Institute of America (USA).
