Founder and director of the Ramsey Research Foundation, Sammy Ramsey completed his Bachelor of Science in Entomology at Cornell University in 2011. During his academic journey, his research focused on the predatory and parasitic behaviour of insects.
During his doctoral studies, he dedicated his research to understanding the Varroa Destructor parasite, which globally threatens bees. He conducted his study in the Honey Bee lab at the University of Maryland.
By conducting in-depth studies of honeybees, Dr. Sammy argued that his findings on the decline in bee numbers and their significant importance to agricultural production should be made available to everyone. Ramsey believes that the ability to articulate discoveries to anyone interested is as important as the skills to achieve discoveries in the laboratory. This conviction is evidenced by his engaging scientific presentations and his enthusiasm for supporting the entomological community.
The entomologist continues to study the behaviour and biology of these threats in isolation while developing preventive and emergency measures for species preservation.
