Leela Hazzah

Leela Hazzah has worked on conservation issues in East Africa for twenty years. She is especially passionate about working hand in hand with communities, employing innovation to further conservation goals, and assisting conservationists in sharing knowledge.

Leela, the Executive Director and Cofounder of Lion Guardians, obtained her PhD and MSc from the University of Wisconsin Madison and is an affiliate faculty member at Colorado State University and the University of Cape Town. She is also a Director and Founding Member of Women for the Environment Africa (WE Africa) and PRIDE Lion Conservation Alliance.
